Velvet Monsoons - Original Acrylic on Canvas

This is another one of my big pieces from my cloud era... I love her so much!! She provides such depth to a room. AND makes any space feel cozier. 

My clouds really came from a place of such intense corporate burnout. It was the dead of winter in Idaho where everything is so gray. But during this horrible winter, I found a home with the most wonderful partner who would make me cozy dinners when I was sad and dream of better days when I didn't have to do this job anymore. Our routine was to come home, hug for at least 5 minutes, I'd bitch about my day, and he would just hold me. Then he'd make a big dinner, and we'd snuggle on the couch with one of the Harry Potter movies playing in the background until I got the itch to keep painting.

My favorite part of this painting is the bottom right-hand corner where you can see some tiny stars and the sliver of a moon peeking out from behind the clouds. I think she's telling you to keep going. Keep dreaming and fighting and finding pockets of joy and love to hold onto. The greener grass is coming for you!
